The ‘Holocaust in Sight of England’

In September 1941, a group of Jewish slave labourers, stood in their new camp – a group of tents in pine-trees, on a steep hill-side, at Sangatte, near Calais, in direct and tantalising sight of the White Cliffs of Dover and pondered their fate. Most did not know that after a few short months of super-human labour, constructing the mighty Lindemann Batterie and other defences, they would be sent to perish at Auschwitz.
