Swindon Choral Society: If Music be the Food of Love: Songs and Readings from Shakespeare

Shakespeare’s Songs and Sonnets have been a rich source of inspiration to composers over the years. In their concert programme ”If music be the food of Love” Swindon Choral Society will perform a selection of Shakespeare settings from the Elizabethan era, via Henry Purcell to the jazz-based compositions of George Shearing and the incidental music to “The Tempest” written by the choir’s conductor Robin Nelson. The singing will be interspersed with readings from the Plays and Sonnets provided by l
