Lord Kelvin and his legacy to atmospheric science

Lord Kelvin is amongst the most famous scientists ever, contributing hugely to physics and development of the so-called Victorian internet. His atmospheric work, though, is unappreciated. This talk by Dr Karen Aplin will cover his summer 1859 fieldwork on Arran, when Kelvin may have unwittingly encountered the strongest known solar storm.
Tickets cost £5. Please note the talk will take place in the Old Cyder House Conference Centre at the museum. Doors open at 7pm, the talk commences at 7:30pm.
