Gibside - The orangery urns by Andrew Burton

Sculptor Andrew Burton has researched the tempestuous story of Mary Eleanor's second marriage to Andrew Robinson Stoney Bowes as well as looked at the original urns that once graced Mary Eleanor Bowes' original orangery. Located within the walled garden and alongside the avenue, Andrew has created a series of large vessels that symbolise confinement desperate bids for freedom and the outpourings of anger and loss.
