Leawood Pumphouse open - In steam on Sunday

The Leawood Pump was installed in 1849 to pump water from the river Derwent into the Cromford canal, and it still works!

On the Saturday, the pump WILL NOT be in steam, but the building will be open for viewing of the boilers and the impressive Cornish Beam Engine. The main beam weighs nearly 30 tons itself and you can wonder how the Victorian engineers installed it.

On the Sunday, The engine will be in steam, pumping 4 tons of water at a time into the Cromford Canal.
