Open Doors -Brookhouse Pottery
This early 19th century building was originally a malt house supplying the local pubs and breweries. It is robustly built in stone directly on the river which supplied the water for the malting process. Originally it had three floors with very cramped headroom between each. The process demanded generous floor area to maximise the size of the shallow malting cisterns.
