Open Doors -St Mary's Church, Denbigh

St Marys, a grade II* listed building, was built in 1874 to replace the medieval church of St Hilary within the old town walls. Designed by local architects Lloyd Williams and Underwood, the church contains an excellent but controversial reredos (the carving on the east wall behind the altar), condemned at the time as an inducement to Popery and a betrayal of the principles of the Reformation.
