WW1: a Village at War was first conceived in opera form as a way of marking the centenary of the outbreak of hostilities in 1914. It tells the story of a young couple, Tom and Mary who become engaged just as war is declared. It was inspired by the experiences of the people of Llangwm in Pembrokeshire but could be about any village as it tells a story of love, loss and hardship.
