Mozart Requiem by candlelight

The acclaimed London chamber choir Canticum will join forces with top chamber orchestra, Counterpoint, and a team of exceptional young soloists, conducted by Mark Forkgen, to present a concert commemorating the centenary of the end of WW1. Mozart’s much loved Requiem is paired with a new oratorio, The Walking Shadows, which receives its world premiere. The composer, Stephen McNeff, is a British Composer Award winner and two of his operas, Gentle Giant and Clockwork, have been performed at the Royal Opera.
The Walking Shadows tells the stories of four people in a landscape of war, referencing music of the time (It’s a long way to Tipperary, Oh What a Lovely War, We don’t want to lose you) and setting a text by poet and performer Aoife Maddix, drawn from letters and reports of the time. It was commissioned with financial assistance from Arts Council England and Apples and Snakes.
