The Gibbet Heritage Board Official Unveiling

The Halifax Gibbet is quite unique in England. There is no other known execution instrument like it and it still stands today on its namesake road Gibbet Street. From the 13th Century this deadly instrument was used to execute any thieves who stole goods over the value of 13 ½ D. ( In modern day approx. £40 ) and have their head cut off!

On Saturday 2nd February the official unveiling of the new Heritage information board will take place by The Mayor & Mayoress of Calderdale. The event will

2pm finishing at the Piece Hall, Halifax approx. 4pm
