Nineteenth-century criminal justice: Shire Hall in context

For more than 150 years, Shire Hall was at the centre of law and order in Dorset. Its lifetime spans one of the most significant periods in our legal and social history.
Dr Rose Wallis from the University of the West of England, and historian at Shire Hall, will use this courthouse as a lens through which we can explore the changes in our criminal justice system in the 19th century, and the social and political movements that underpinned them.
