"Our Town" by Thornton Wilder
Please join us on March 20th, 22nd and 23rd as our village presents Our Town, by Thornton Wilder
“Nice town, y’know what I mean?”
It’s only a few weeks now until Hagbourne Village Hall is lovingly transformed into Small-town New Hampshire, and we all drift back to life as it was in the early years of the last century. You won’t hear American accents but you WILL witness a homely tale of love, life and beyond in a community which, although distant in time and place, remains endearingly familiar.
It is 100 years since the famous three-act play Our Town was first presented in the United States. Its ground-breaking style and staging has kept it relevant and performed almost continuously in the USA ever since, and it remains a favourite of US drama societies, large and small.
In comparison, Our Town is seldom staged in the UK, so HAMS are particularly proud to present it as our 10th annual production.
