British Red Cross Bedfordshire Open Garden

Woodbury Hall and Park is situated on the Greensand Ridge, north of Sandy. A house has stood on this site since the 17th century but the core of the present house was built from 1803-06. Sir William Booth, the gin distiller, sold it in 1857 to his neighbour J.H. Astell MP as the latter had become homeless when he had to demolish Everton House. His grandson R.J.V. Astell employed the fashionable architect Philip Tilden to remodel the house in 1931. It was requisitioned by the Canadian army during
