Summer Steamings at Bolton Steam Museum. Now taking place
Volunteers from the Northern Mill Engine Society have rescued and restored 30 old stationary steam engines - some of the engines which once powered the cotton mills and woollen mills of the North of England. The collection includes 2 rare beam engines (the oldest is 180 years old!), and several engines which are now unique - the only one left of this type in the world!. We have a wide variety of different types of steam engine and most will be running in steam on these 2 days only. Come and see these magnificent monsters in action! Admission is free (donations welcome) with free unlimited parking on the Supermarket car park. Full disabled access and toilets. The Engine View Cafe offers drinks and snacks.
