Imagine Plymouth in the early 1600s. King James I, obsessed with witchcraft also faced annihilation during the Gunpowder Plot and the country was fuelled by fear. Meanwhile in Plymouth, the Pilgrims were preparing to depart for a new land to gain their freedom … but were they really free?
Explore local history with your thoughts and imagination during one of the darkest times in British history.
This workshop will create a play from factual events woven with fiction which will mark Whitleigh’s premier contribution to the Mayflower 400 celebrations, due to start in 2020.

Items needed: Notepad and pen. As this workshop runs for five hours, a packed lunch is recommended or nearby cafes and shops in Whitleigh are closely located to buy refreshments.
