A talk illustrated with fine CD recordings by Adrian Boynton
Chopin, the greatest poet of the piano, used harmonic imagination and melodic invention to transform old forms and create new ones. We explore his upbringing in Warsaw, his studentship at Warsaw Conservatoire, his first tour of Germany and acclaimed visit to Vienna, and early years in Paris. The music of this period includes Sonata No 1, Piano Trio, Variations
