History of Saltmarshe Hall and Saltmarshe family
Saltmarshe Hall dates from 1825 and was built by Philip Saltmarshe on the site of an earlier hall. It had been in the Saltmarshe family since medieval times and remained so until 1971 when the last Philip Saltmarshe died.
The hall stands on the banks of the River Ouse and within its own park. It is now a wedding venue and small hotel but will be open to the public on Wednesday September 18th as part of the Heritage Open Days. It retains its original nineteenth century layout and visitors will b
