Felicity Gill: Being Human
As a portrait painter, Felicity Gill searches for a likeness which ebbs and flows as the
painting progresses – as if in a wonderful game of hide and seek. Finding more freedom in her figurative paintings, Felicity explores painting flesh and movement, fleeting moments and emotion.
Her intention is for the movement of the paint to lead the viewer’s eye around the painting until it settles on a feature which comes into focus, such as an eye or a hand, allowing them to fill in the fuller picture.
