The Occam Singers Poulenc: Gloria Britten: Rejoice in the Lamb & Solo Songs
Poulenc’s Gloria reflects his easy-going humour, mischief and solemnity. The work premiered in 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts. Originally composed for large orchestra, in the concert we will hear a small orchestra accompanying the Occam Singers chamber choir.
A pillar of 20th century English music, Britten’s prolific repertoire includes opera, orchestral and choral works, film music and chamber pieces. Rejoice in the Lamb is based on Jubilate Agno, a poem by 18th century poet Christopher Smart,
