Goddards House and Garden
Heritage Open Day: A warm Arts and Crafts house full of memories, Goddards is the former home of the Terry family, where you can sit down in the drawing room with a sherry, play tennis on the court in the garden or make a chocolate box in the factory room. New displays on show throughout the house consider what 'home' meant to different members of the Terry family that lived here. Discover letters from members of the family, photo albums of life at Goddards and cast your vote on what truly makes a house a home. Designed by Walter Brierley, the family moved in to Goddards in 1927, and it remained their family home until 1980.
The glorious gardens, nestled on the edge of York racecourse were commissioned by Noel Terry when the house was being built in the late 1920s.
