Preston Cemetery

Heritage Open Day: Join a one-hour guided tour of this historic cemetery, which opened in 1855 when many of Preston’s overcrowded churchyards were closed by Act of Parliament. You'll visit the newly listed Grade 2 Abstinence Memorial and graves of influential temperance campaigners, including Joseph Livesey, the founder of teetotalism, as well as the resting places of other famous and infamous Prestonians, such as Matthew Brown, the brewer.
