The Veitch Floral Art Lamp Post Trail
Heritage Open Day: As a celebration of our industrial and horticultural heritage in St David's (Exeter) we 'rescued' 17 cast-iron lamp posts from demolition. Hand-painted plants on each lamp post to celebrate the famous Veitch family of plant-hunters and nurserymen. Free guided tours of this new and unique attraction includes a series of Exeter's old cast-iron lamp posts, each hand-painted with a different plant brought back to the the UK by the City's famous Veitch family plant-hunters. This fascinating blend of Exeter's horticultural heritage and industrial history was created to preserve period street furniture whilst celebrating its famous gardening family. The trail lasts approx 60 minutes and ends with refreshments after a short tour of The Mulberry Garden, St David's Hill.
