Cardiff Foraging Course
Bute Park covers over 130 acres in the centre of Cardiff, making it one of the largest urban parks in Europe. The mixture of mature parkland, woodland and riverside makes it surprisingly plentiful in wild plants, flowers and a variety of fungi throughout the year. As well as a nationally significant arboretum containing the most champion trees of any UK public park, the area is home to a lot of wildlife including woodpeckers, herons and even otters. We will meet at the Castle Street entrance to the park, outside the Pettigrew tearooms. The course starts there with a short introduction on what to look for and a brief of the general countryside codes, where they relate to foragers. Tea or coffee is available from the cafe. Then we’ll set off on a roughly 2.
