Discover the Anglo Saxons at The Beonna
Discover the Anglo Saxon followers of King Beonna – the long-ago king of East Anglia who gave his name to our village.
Play Anglo Saxon dice and board games, solve our ancient riddles, test yourself in games of skill (and steady hand) and get involved in make n’ take craft activities – including the chance to create your own pendant or your very own version of the famous King Beonna coin.
Plus, colouring, activity sheets and our very own owl hunt.
Refreshments are available.
The Beonna at All Saints is a new events venue and community hub being created at the Grade I listed medieval church of All Saints Benington (which dates from 1100). The church was officially declared 'closed' in 2003 and, without a future, was eventually boarded up. With the help of funders including the National Lottery Heritage the building is now being brought back to life.
