The Carol, the Carter and the Collectors. A talk by Irene Shettle

On Christmas Day 1868 a new carol was introduced to a church congregation in Philadelphia. Nearly forty years later it had crossed to England and was published in 1906 in the English Hymnal, edited by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Percy Dearmer, but this time the words were married to a different tune.
