INTO FILM FESTIVAL - Vice
After opening with the 9/11 attacks, the film flashes back to Wyoming in 1963, where a young Dick Cheney struggles with alcohol and is convinced by his wife to clean up his act. In 1969, he finds employment as a White House intern within the Nixon administration, working under Nixons economic advisor, Donald Rumsfeld, but must also juggle commitments to his wife and daughters. During this period he learns more about the extraordinary power of the executive branch, and is soon able to work from within it after rising to the position of White House Chief of Staff after Nixons resignation. Leading up to the present day, the film explores Cheneys influence and impact on global politics over a number of decades in this witty, engaging comedy-drama.
