Hull & Barnsley Railway

Howden Civic Society will host a talk by Brian Crowther of the Hull & Barnsley Stock Fund about the Hull & Barnsley Railway.The line closed in 1959 and was the last large Victorian railway built in England. Built in 1885 it was intended to transport coal from the South and West Yorkshire pits to a newly constructed dock at Hull. South Howden station was the main intermediary station on the line.
Talk starts at 2.00 p.m.
Admission is £1 for Howden Civic Society members and £2 for guests and visitors.
Talks generally last for about 1 hour.
Light refreshments are included.
