The Rise and Fall of the Metham Family
Howden Civic Society will host a talk about the rise and fall of the Metham family by Graham Wilton. The talk will describe their medieval origins and their colourful history. The original Metham Hall, the seat of the Metham family, substantial landowners in these parts, was situated between Laxton and Yokefleet. In 1316 Nicholas de Metham owned one of the three manors within the settlement of Laxton and the family lived there for the next 500 years.
Talk starts at 7.30 p.m.
Admission is £1 for Howden Civic Society members and £2 for guests and visitors.
Light refreshments are included.
