The Holly and the Ivy

The St James’s Singers present their ever-popular Christmas Concert on Saturday 21st December, at 7.30pm, in St Mary’s Church, Warwick.

This year’s reader is Sunny Ormonde. Sunny plays the outrageous Lilian Bellamy in Radio 4’s The Archers and is one of the listeners’ favourite characters. The readings will include some inspiring poetry and prose to capture the spirit of Christmas and to bring a smile to all.

The music will include a blend of familiar and less well-known carols, including several favourites for the audience to join in. The choir’s pieces include John Joubert's Torches, one of the 20th century’s most popular carols. In addition, there will be haunting works by Morten Lauridsen, and James McMillan, the wonderful Bogoroditse Devo from Rachmaninov’s Vespers and the lovely Bethlehem Down by Peter Warlock. In short there is something for everyone.
The concert starts at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £15 and £10 and are available from the SJS box office on 07502 939498 or (unreserved) on the door.
