Social and London history - Old Holborn and Little Italy
Go for a virtual walk on Zoom through one of London's suburbs.
Join Diane Burstein on a virtual tour of this little known corner of London which was once the city’s Italian quarter.
Led by Diane, a London Blue Badge Tour Guide, discover:
- Italian organ grinders and ice cream sellers who contributed to the area’s street life;
- skilled mosaic and figurine makers who helped to decorate beautiful St Peter’s church.
Diane also shows us:
- a 12th century church;
- a road which was once part of Cambridgeshire;
- a courtyard with bloody connections;
- the streets that were the settings for Dicken’s “Oliver Twist”.
Join Diane for a Questions session after the talk.
