Making and Breaking a Marriage

Making and Breaking a Marriage

A live online Zoom tutorial for family and social historians
The history and rules leading governing a church or civil marriage and the problems caused by marital breakdown are always a challenge to genealogists. Finding a marriage is one of the commonest problems for family historians.

In this tutorial, Else Churchill helps identify the sources that contain information and the techniques that can help track down the information we need.

Else looks at the role ecclesiastic and civil courts played in marital breakdown and divorce and what records can help or hinder the genealogist.

There will be time for discussions, and a short break in the middle, so do bring your questions along.
This 2-hour tutorial starts at 10.30 UK time and costs £16.00. For Members of the Society of Genealogists, a discounted price of £10.00 is available. On 11 December we will send you an email invitation which includes a password and link to the talk - remember to check your spam folder! Please ensure you use the same user name that you used at booking, to login to the talk on the day.
