Curvilinear. Photography & ceramics by Tracy Florance & Sally Dorrity
A new exhibition opens at The Fountain Gallery, Hampton Court, on 18th January, when Tracy Florance and Sally Dorrity return with a unique display of powerful contemporary photographs and statement ceramic pieces.
Sally works in stoneware to hand-build her pots, using either crank or black clays to create small, medium and large pieces, both functional and sculptural. Sally experiments with different shapes, new glazes and glaze combinations, taking inspiration from traditional classic forms and from the lines, tones and textures of nature.
Tracy has travelled widely, and takes her camera with her wherever she goes, hoping to capture the essence of the places she visits. She is drawn to interior and external architecture, in which she attempts to portray patterns and shapes that others might miss.
Sally’s ceramics and Tracy’s photographs complement each other perfectly, with Sally’s glazes and Tracy’s images of reflections in glass and water often echoing each other in form and colour.
The exhibition runs from Tuesday 18th to Sunday 30th January. Opening hours: 11.00am – 5.30pm Tuesday – Sunday.
On Sunday 23rd January Sally and Tracy will be in the gallery to talk about their work, with practical demonstrations.
