Ulverston Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
6 very varied gardens in and around a historic market town, with its canal and lighthouse monument to Sir John Barrow. 'Every garden a surprise'. Hamilton Grove garden slopes down from a large terrace to the, now dry, canal feeder via beds of annuals and perennials. There is a large collection of scented leaf pelargoniums. The two houses on Oubas Hill rise up towards the lighthouse and are busy and varied with unconventional features. Handmade pottery products at No 11 (partial income to NGS). 51 Daltongate is medium sized and wildlife friendly with a lovely wild flower area. 104 Birchwood makes the most of a small corner plot with roadside vegetables, formal front garden and delightful secret back garden.
Sun 28 June (10-4). Combined adm £5, Children free. Light refreshments available at several of the gardens. Times:10:00 to 16:00. Open for charity.
