Serge Hill Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
Two very diverse gardens. At its entrance the Barn has an enclosed courtyard, with tanks of water, herbaceous perennials and shrubs tolerant of generally dry conditions. To the N there are views over the 5-acre wild flower meadow, and the West Garden is a series of different gardens overflowing with bulbs, herbaceous perennials and shrubs. The house at Serge Hill results principally from the work of Charles Augustin Busby (1786-1817), an architect and engineer perhaps most renowned for a development west of Brighton christened Brunswick Town and for his 1808 publication: A series of designs for villas and country houses. In 1811 Busby exhibited his designs for Serge Hill House at the Royal Academy.
