NATIONAL TRUST Watford and District Association
Speaker: Peter Burford.
Frogmore Paper Mill.
Frogmore paper mill is the oldest mechanical paper mill in the world. It is still a working paper mill although now on a small scale, and is also a museum set on the Grand Union Canal at Apsley. Print has long been a vital part of Watford's industry, with many people working in the various aspects of 'the print'. The mill takes us back to the time when paper making became a vital part of the industrial revolution in this country. It is only very recently that digital took over from print as the accepted form of record: paper is what shaped the modern world. Our speaker will be Peter Burford from the museum.
