World Penguin Day at Birdland

World Penguin Day at Birdland Celebrate World Penguin Day on Saturday 25th April in the company of England’s only breeding group of regal king penguins as well as a comical colony of Humboldts.

Enjoy twice-daily penguin feeds and talks from Head Keeper, and surrogate penguin parent, Alistair Keen. Find out how the keepers at Birdland care for their flippered friends, learn about their individual characteristics and how the penguins love to play.

World Penguin Day marks the date when the Adelie penguins traditionally begin their epic migration northwards to Antarctica. It also aims to raise awareness of the increasing danger all penguin species face in the wild due to loss of habitat, pollution and global warming.
