Patchwork & Quilting in Bampton
This Bampton Community Archive exhibition is a display of 'Patchwork and Quilting in Bampton' presented by Jane Wallis. It was organised with the primary aim of recording the Quilters and Patchworkers, who in 2020, continue these traditional crafts in the village, and also to display examples of their work. Also by explaining a little about the history and techniques of the craft and providing tips on how to get started, it is also hoped the exhibition will encourage more ‘Bamptonians’ to take up a needle - either by hand or by machine - and embark on their own voyage of discovery. The exhibition highlights the work of 16 Patchworkers and Quilters and includes several different styles, including some with a very modern twist. There will be a short booklet describing the individual quilts available for purchase at £1.
Also on view is a photographic display of the filming of 'Downton Abbey', memorabilia, books on Bampton, catalogues of previous exhibitions
Opening times: Monday to Friday 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm and Sunday 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm
