Missed by most people, the last mineral mine to be worked in the Lake District has been lovingly restored and cared for by volunteers. A guided tour allows you to explore the above-ground processing mill and associated remains - it's as if the miners had just left for the day.
Once a hive of industry, the mining of lead, zinc and barites took place at Force Crag for over 200 years, ceasing in 1990. History, engineering, geology, archaeology and an awesome setting, Force Crag Mine has it all. Booking Advisable. Phone: 017687 74649.
