Lockdown Art Project (take part @ home). Prizes (vouchers) to be won!
Prizes of £100 (winner) and two runners up prizes of £50 each to be won! Taking part is really easy and fun (and will keep the kids occupied for a little while so you're a winner too!). Just download a worksheet to take part.
The Howard Centre in Welwyn Garden City, in collaboration with Digswell Arts Trust artist, Muna Zuberi have launched a project to build a hive of lockdown experiences. The project is based around Muna’s drawing ‘Hive’ which imagines households in lockdown.
The households are shown in a hive formation to emphasise that, like bees in a hive, we are all working together to beat the virus.
Children can use the Hive drawing (reproduced in the Centre in the main entrance) as inspiration for their drawings illustrating their own lockdown experiences.
To see the drawing and find out how to enter, visit the Howard Centre website: www.howardcentre.co.uk/community/hive/
The completed entry can then be emailed in - it couldn’t be simpler to take part.
A community artwork wall is set to be filled with children’s entries and the best one will win a prize of £100 with two runners up prizes of £50 each. The prizes are vouchers that can be spent in the Howard Centre. The artwork wall is located next to Claire’s in the North Mall.
The project is part of a wider initiative to utilise empty shop spaces to engage more people with artwork outside of traditional gallery spaces - including an exhibition by the Digswell Arts Trust Ceramicists group. You can find the exhibition on the 1st Floor, next to the O2 shop as well as two of Muna’s lightboxes located underneath the escalators in the main entrance of the Centre.
Take part at home for free!
