The River School - Open Garden for NGS
A former Horticultural College garden being brought back to life. For 35 years after WW2 it was known as Oakfield Teacher Training College for Horticulture. With its reputation visitors came from 58 countries and at least 8 other Horticultural Colleges were founded by people inspired by it. The Estate features many less common shrubs and trees as well as a Forest School pond area.
Sat 24 Apr, Sat 7 Aug (10.30-3.30). Admission £5, Children free. Light refreshments in the Lewis Room near garden entrance. Times:10:30 to 15:30. Open for charity.
