Lydia and George

Lydia and George

Lydia and George is the untold story of Lydia Bennet, the naughty youngest sister of Elizabeth. At the end of Pride & Prejudice, she and her soldier-seducer husband George Wickham are sent away to Newcastle, ‘a place quite northward, it seems, and there they are to stay’.
They are irresponsible, of course, but they are also resourceful and make a new life for themselves in the theatre. When they receive the visit of a mysterious young woman, Minnie, seeking employment as a maid, their old lives and their new one collide ...

Lydia and George is a new play by Lucy Flannery and Greg Mosse. This afternoon’s event is a rehearsed reading of this script, which is a tender-hearted, respectful tribute to Jane Austen’s wonderful novel – a story of ambition, idealism and love.

This rehearsed reading is also available as a virtual event, held on Zoom.
