Elkstone Open Gardens

Organised and supported by villagers to raise funds for upkeep of the local church and our Village Hall this event offers a unique opportunity to visit this very special Cotswold village and see it in detail not normally accessible to the casual visitor. On this day you can amble through a selection of beautiful private gardens, browse stalls, enjoy cream teas, homemade cakes or ice creams,

The church, the highest in the Cotswolds, is known for its unusual dovecote above the chancel and its quite exceptional Norman arches in the chancel and sanctuary bathed in golden light. It boasts a wonderful Norman tympanum above the south door. See the gloriousflower displays in the church, see the coronation meadow, and hear the recently restored church bell ring out to celebrate the day. They hang on a working medieval bell frame which has recently been identified as of national historical significance and they date in time from 1657 to 1977. The church also has a bronze eco award and a very special eco-loo!
