2022 Presteigne Festival
The Presteigne Festival celebrates its 40th birthday in 2022, with the Festival programme embracing a variety of elements centring around a celebration of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ music, in his 150th anniversary year.
Julian Philips is composer-in-residence, and we premiere an exciting corpus of new work from Ninfea Cruttwell-Reade, Cheryl Frances-Hoad, Rylan Gleave, Thomas Hyde, Sarah Frances Jenkins, David Matthews, Tarik O’Regan, Francis Pott, Aileen Sweeney and Huw Watkins.
The artist roster includes the Carducci Quartet, Nova Music Opera, Leonore Piano Trio, Nicholas Daniel, Benjamin Nabarro, Amy Dickson, Julien Van Mellaerts, Felix Kemp, Tim Horton, Huw Watkins, Gemma Rosefield, Olivia Jageurs, Emmanuel Sowicz, the Bath Camerata under Benjamin Goodson and the Festival Orchestra under George Vass.
In addition to the enticing 15-event music programme, the Festival offers cabaret from Jessica Walker and Joseph Atkins, literary and music-based talks from Helena Attlee, Gillian Clarke, Stephen Johnson, Ian Marchant and Nicholas Murray, a trio of films from eccentric director Wes Anderson, an exhibition at the Sidney Nolan Trust and the always hugely popular Presteigne ‘Open Studios’ weekend.
