Westmill Wind Farm and Solar Park / 'Moths To A Flame' Open Day
The Westmill Wind Farm & Solar Park sits on the Oxfordshire / Wiltshire border and creates clean, green energy. And Westmill has been selected as a 'virtual landing site' for the Moths to a Flame project run by The Art and Energy Collective, on its journey to the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on the 31st October 2021.
As a community energy partner, we'd like to welcome you to a free family event featuring Westmill site tours and demonstrations, plus a moth-making workshop, and other creative workshops linked to energy, sustainability and biodiversity.
Site tours and demonstrations will offer an insight into renewable energy, how the Westmill turbines work, the history of the site, and the background to installation of the five turbines and over twenty-thousand solar panels.
These workshops will be open to both adults and children. They will be relatively informal, with the aim of starting conversations about some of the important issues that need to be raised at COP26.
Whilst there will be some refreshments on-site, you are invited to bring a picnic, ideally with no plastic or non-compostable contents (when considering your picnic contents, we also encourage you to think about including home-cooking and wholesome food, with packaging which does not impact on the planet).
