Manchester Jewish Museum Open Day (part of Cheetham Cultural Festival)

Join us as we celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot and open our doors for anyone to visit as part of Cheetham Cultural Festival 2021.
Sukkot is the Jewish festival celebrating the gathering of the harvest and commemorating the sheltering of the Jewish people in the wilderness. To celebrate Sukkot this year we will be building our very own Sukkah (a temporary structure used throughout Sukkot) in our new Learning Studio.
Take part and help decorate our Sukkah with beautiful dried flowers and fruits from our friends at Bread Flower and make your own delicious bagels to take home as you learn about Sukkot history and traditions.
There will also be guided tours of the museum and synagogue, poetry performed by ‘The Cheetham Poet’ Sarfraz Malik, and world-premiere performances from our own song writing group as part of an international collaboration with Denmark. Exact times to be announced.
Be sure to drop into our vegetarian café which will be open throughout the day, serving fresh food, treats, snacks and drinks.
Cheetham Cultural Festival is a celebration of Cheetham Hill’s communities and runs from 23 – 26 September, check out their full programme below:

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Our open day is suitable and open for all ages, though we do ask that all children are supervised. The open day runs from 12pm until 4pm and you are welcome to drop in at any time.
You don’t have to be Jewish to join in our Sukkot celebrations. This is an opportunity to join in some of our family friendly activities and learn about Jewish festivals.
Our café and bagel ingredients are all kosher or from kosher suppliers, but the food is not prepared under Beth Din supervision. If you have any allergies please email dara@manchesterjewishmuseum.com in advance.
You don’t have to book in advance but we do recommend it as our bagel and sukkah decoration sessions may get busy on the day.
This year Sukkot takes place between sundown on Monday 20 Septem
