Harrogate Creative Stitchers
Harrogate Creative Stitchers is an independent group of stitchers and textile art enthusiasts, which meets at the ‘Friends Meeting House’, 12a, Queens Parade, Harrogate, HG1 5PP, usually on the second Saturday of each month. Doors open at 10.00am for a ‘Stitch and Chat’, then between 2.00pm – 4.00pm we have an expert speaker or demonstration.
We also meet on the last Tuesday of each month, for an informal meeting of sewing, coffee and a chat, in the coffee shop at the Everyman Cinema, ‘Westgate House’, Station Parade, Harrogate, HG1 1HQ at 10am until noon.
Our next meeting will be on Saturday 12th October, commencing with the Stitch and Chat at 10.00 am, followed at 2.00 pm by a talk given by Dawn Ireland. Dawn's talk will be about how she got into textiles, the college courses she completed, her inspirations, work processes, and the many varied projects and commissions she has worked on over the last 28 years. She will be showing a wide range of slide images during the talk. There will be lots of textile samples to look through afterwards, as well as a selection of her original textile pictures, cards, fabric packs and haberdashery items available to purchase.
Date for your diary: our talk on November 9th will discuss the inspiration behind the creation of Ealish Wilson’s Textile Art, combining influences from architecture, fashion, traditional stitching methods, photography and digital technology. Ealish will share her working methods and techniques to convey the transformation of her influences into her textile pieces.
Everyone welcome!!
Our membership fees are £45.00 per year. Each month, anyone attending the ‘Stitch and Chat’ in the morning is charged £2.00. Additionally, members are charged £3.00 to attend the afternoon talks, whereas visitors are charged £8.00.
Free teas and coffees are served after the talk.
