Harrogate Creative Stitchers

Harrogate Creative Stitchers is an independent group of stitchers and textile art enthusiasts, which meets at the ‘Friends Meeting House’, 12a, Queens Parade, Harrogate, HG1 5PP, on the second Saturday of each month. Doors open at 10.00am for a ‘Stitch and Chat’, then between 2.00pm – 4.00pm we have an expert speaker or demonstration.

We also meet on the last Tuesday of each month, for an informal meeting of sewing, coffee and a chat, in the coffee shop at the Everyman Cinema, ‘Westgate House’, Station Parade, Harrogate, HG1 1HQ at 10am.

On 9th March our speaker will be Saima Kaur who will talk about the folk embroideries from Punjab known as Phulkaris. Saima will use antique and contemporary examples to illustrate the techniques, materials, histories and cultural significance of these magnificent textiles. Visitors will be invited to handle these embroideries.

Note for your diaries: on 13th April Helen Millen will tell us how she was ‘Captivated By All Things Woven’.

Everyone welcome!!
Our membership fees are £45.00 per year. Each month, anyone attending the ‘Stitch and Chat’ in the morning is charged £2.00. Additionally, members are charged £3.00 to attend the afternoon talks, whereas visitors are charged £8.00.

Free teas and coffees are served after the talk.
