An Evening with Seamus Fox

A formerly homeless man turned poet is hosting an evening of thought-provoking spoken word performances to raise money for homelessness charity Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney.
After battling alcoholism and drug addiction, and finding himself without a home, Séamus Fox came to understand the social and human injustices that result in so many people finding themselves living in the street. He has turned his experiences, and those of others who have faced homelessness, into a collection of moving poems in the book, No Homeless Problem and Other Poems.

On Monday 27th September, guests are invited to join Séamus at Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney in Ditchingham for “An Evening With Séamus Fox”. During the event Séamus will be reading from his collection of poems and talking to guests about his own experiences with alcoholism and homelessness, and his time being supported by Emmaus.

In 2015, after finding himself without a home, Séamus joined Emmaus Colchester and then moved to Emmaus Cambridge where he spent five years living and working as part of the community. The charity gave him a home, access to meaningful work opportunities, training and support. It was during this time that he travelled to Emmaus communities around the country to talk to other formerly homeless people and capture their stories. Some of these stories feature in Séamus’ book and give an honest, disturbing and often enlightening view of homelessness.
An Evening With Seamus Fox will take place on Monday 27th September at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £15 and include a Ploughman’s Supper. To buy tickets, email the Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney team on info@emmausnorfolkandwaveney.org
