Chard Remembers: World War 2 Cooking Challenge
Heritage Open Day: Ask people what they have done during the pandemic, many will say cook, or learn to cook. However, supply chains have been strong, different ingredients have been readily available. Imagine living through WW2 when produce was limited, even rationed. On September 3rd, 1939 Great Britain and France declared war on Germany after they invaded Poland near Gdansk. From its earliest months, the war saw households disrupted, more people working longer hours, and food increasingly difficult and time-consuming to obtain.
