Christ Church Unitarian Chapel, Bridgwater
Heritage Open Day: Come see the oldest non-conformist Chapel (founded 1662) in Bridgwater standing for free-thinking religion. Learn how this Grade II* listed building dating from 1688 is connected to Blake, Coleridge, and others as well as the anti-slavery movement. This may be the last opportunist to see a charming and unique Flemish bond bricked chapel frozen in time as a living museum with many of the interior features from 1788 before it undergoes major restoration for a few years. Learn about the building's unique features such as an unusual water circulation heating system, unchanged since its installation in the 1860s by Garton & King of Exeter. Along with many of the original Victorian gas light fittings.
